Virginia Tesser has joined the Quality Institute as Membership Coordinator
Can you describe your new role at the Quality Institute?
I support Tyla Housman, the Vice President of External Affairs, to develop and engage our membership. That means reaching out to potential new members and strengthening our engagement with existing members. I also will be managing our social media outreach.
Can you tell us about your background?
I served two governors and worked for the Election Law Enforcement Commission as the Assistant Director of Compliance and Information — and received my Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of New Jersey with a major in Political Science and a minor in English.
My very first job was helping with campaign finance reform and in the office of the governor I worked engaging constituents. Both experiences support the engagement work I’m doing today. When I made the decision to return to work after raising my three children, it was important to find a position where I could make a difference in our state and local communities — one that I could get behind 110 percent.
How do you see the value of the Quality Institute’s multi-stakeholder membership?
That’s one of the reasons I wanted to join the Quality Institute — the wide range of members from all aspects of health care coming together at the same table. Each member brings a unique and valuable perspective. I believe it’s our membership that enables the Quality Institute to be so effective and impactful in advancing our mission.
Since you joined the Quality Institute, what has surprised you most?
How hard everyone works here. Everyone wears so many different hats and accomplishes so much … it’s just inspiring. At the Innovation Showcase, someone came up to me and described the Quality Institute as small but mighty. That’s absolutely true.
So, outside of work, what could we expect to find you doing on a day off?
If I go to bed believing I learned something new and helped someone then I’ve had a great day. You’ll also see me outdoors at any chance I get to exercise. I love gardening. And I will never give up my quest to complete the entire Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.
