Julie DeSimone, LSW
As Director of Community Health, Julie DeSimone provides mayors and community leaders with valuable tools and subject matter expertise on their Mayors Wellness Campaigns (MWC), a Quality Institute initiative that focuses on making communities healthier places to live, work, and thrive.
Julie is bringing her extensive experience in social services at the county level to support the MWC’s focus on social determinants of health. Julie’s background working for the Somerset County Department of Human Services gives her a real-world understanding of how local government can have an enormous impact on the wellbeing of residents. Julie is also a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor and runs many of the Quality Institute’s MHFA trainings.
Julie is currently a Board Member for the Mercer Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction and sits on the New Jersey Statewide Network for Cultural Competency. She has also held positions with Middle Earth and EmPoWER Somerset, nonprofits serving the Somerset County area. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Sociology from Rutgers University as well as a Master of Social Work, with a concentration in Nonprofit and Public Management, from Rutgers University.
